Abstract

Intelligent transport system (ITS) and the distribution infrastructure is rapidly emerging as an important area for reducing carbon footprint, maintaining reliable supply chains, optimisation of limited resource availability, and cost minimisation. Privacy and security of inter-vehicle communications (trains, automotive, air, sea) are critical for safety, optimisation of freight load distribution, integrity of self-driving sensing networking and communications. Advances in 6G wireless networking will underpin future development in ITS efficiency, particularly with road-side distributed base-stations (train-to-shore communications) enabling decentralised and distributed control & management systems, with associated security & privacy of communications becoming of critical importance, e.g. impact of security provision cannot unduly impact latency, bandwidth and quality of service.
