Abstract

Proving that an entity holds specific attributes is of paramount importance to ensure data and systems security and privacy, enabling to perform authentication and access control on the Web. For example, providing healthcare status certificates, education qualifications, or job positions could be necessary whenever a user requests access to a Hospital Information System or an Employment Office service. The Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) is a new approach for private and portable identity management which relies upon the combination of distributed ledger technology and decentralized digital identity. This talk shows how the new SSI paradigm of can be used to express users’ attributes in a proper digital, portable, and verifiable format.
