I have been a researcher in the academia for more than 20 years, mainly involved in AIoT system design, deep learning for all kinds of applications, real-time system design, embedded system design, hardware-software codesign, etc. I have practical experience not only in academia and industry, but also in the government administration, I have been the director-general of the Smart Intelligence Office of the local Chiayi City Government, where I was responsible for more than 10 different smart city application and implementation projects within the year 2018. We finally obtained the Top 7 Smart Cities in the World Competition on Smart Cities called ICF. Currently, I am still collaborating with several different departments of different local administrations such as the police department of Chiayi City Government on AI-based traffic law enforcement, with the environment protection bureau of Chiayi County Government on AI-based environment protect law enforcement. We have several international collaborations, especially with several IITs of India where we are collaborating on sustainable smart city development.

I am also listed in the Stanford/Elsevier world's top 2% scientist ranking for career-long impact (1960-2023) in the AI and image processing areas and the hardware architecture area. I am currently an IET fellow, IEEE senior member, ACM senior member, and IICM life member.
