I am interested in all areas of privacy in speech technology. In particular, I'm excited about 1) multi-device scenarios in common use cases like a typical office with a desktop, phone, webcam, tablet etc. and 2) multi-user scenarios like homes, where many people use the same devices, where they are authorized users and share some information, but also need privacy with respect to other information. I'm thus interested both in the processing infrastructure (authentication and distributed learning) but also in the design of the human-computer interface as well as the social dynamics of privacy in communication.

I am the initiator and was the first chair of the largest community of privacy and security researchers within speech, the ISCA SIG "Security and Privacy in Speech Communication".
