Industrial Process and energy system engineeringThe goal of our lab from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL is to study and develop computer aided decision support methods for the design of integrated energy systems. Our methods extensively uses models and advanced optimisation techniques for generating integrated system designs. We also use data analytics and machine learning techniques in our design activities. Applications are in industrial processes urban systems and energy system in more general.
We can offer the investigation of ICT system integration at different levels.
We are interrested to investigate system integration in urban systems : buildings and district heating and cooling systems with a particular focus on the integration of data centers as elements of the city hubs considering in particular the predictive control aspects (coordination with renewable energy resources and with the waste heat utilisation) and investigating the integration with district heating/cooling solutions.
We offering an experience in
- Process and energy system design and operation (sizing and operation of complex energy systems)
- sustainability metrics : sustainability indicators with life cycle assessment approaches
- Regional scale energy system models (how is ICT going to contribute and influence the energy transition and the integration of renewable energy conversion technologies).
