The CHIST-ERA network selects 18 new research projects for funding for a total budget of 15 M€. This decision follows a call for collaborative research proposals launched in 2019 around two topics: Twelve projects belongs to the explainable AI topic of the call and six others to the computing for environmental sustainability one. With 23 national or regional funding organisations involved in the projects, this call represents the boradest selection that CHIST-ERA has ever known.
The success rate of the call reaches 11.1%.
The objective of this funding is to support use-inspired basic research in the long term technology domains of the call topics as well as the structuring of the corresponding interdisciplinary research communities. All projects involve at least three partners from three different countries.
The projects will be cofunded by the national/regional funding organisations of CHIST-ERA and the European Commission. The monitoring of the projects will be ensured by CHIST-ERA via a yearly Projects Seminar.
