QIFT ERA-Net+ Preparation

To continue and strengthen trans-national collaboration in the field of Quantum Information Foundations and Technologies (QIFT), the successful launch of the Call 2010 shall be followed by an ERA-Net+ on QIFT. This is already pre-defined in the ICT work programme 2011-2012 for call 9 (Objective ICT-2011 9.9: FET Proactive: Quantum ICT (QICT) including ERA-Net+). CHIST-ERA partners are preparing the ERA-Net+ activities on the basis of a common scientific vision and a collaboration framework, which can be employed for the follow-up action. The common interest in quantum ICST research is underlined by the fact that all partners except one (due to severe budget constraints) joined the first CHIST-ERA call on QIFT.

A majority of partners declared their intent to work towards an ERA-Net+, taking into account the experience gathered from the first call. The CHIST-ERA consortium delivered a recommendation for the ICT work programme 2011-2012 (see attached file). At the time of submitting the recommendation to the European Commission, the process to finalise the work programme was already at a very advanced state, so the suggestions could not be incorporated into the programme any more. However, the CHIST-ERA consortium will continue to deliver input to the European Commission regarding ICT FET topics, trying to optimise the timing between consultation and programme development.
